The Lake County Democrats Welcome You

As the “official” Democratic Party of Lake County, our job is to recruit and elect Democrats. We are an Illinois State Political Action Committee (PAC) who has the ultimate authority for the party infrastructure (Township Chairs and Precinct Committeemen) within the county.

The Democratic Party embodies people-oriented public policy focusing on jobs, fiscal discipline, education, affordable health care, environmental protection, sensible foreign policy, national security, international cooperation.  Participation by the public towards these goals will ensure this country achieving its ultimate best.

The Lake County Democrats supports these goals by, recruiting and supporting democratic candidates, fundraising, arranging events, registering and educating voters, appointing election judges, providing information about issues and much more.

These activities could not be accomplished without the dedication of our Precinct Committeemen.  Committeemen is the official term, but we like to refer to them as people.  The democratic voters of their respective precincts elect Precinct Committee People every two years.  Shortly after the primary election, a convention is held and the elected Precinct Committee People elect a Chairman for the County’s Democratic Party.  They also ratify the appointment of the officers of the Executive Board.  After the convention, the elected Precinct Committee People elect a chairperson for their respective townships and the township chairs begin to fill vacant precincts with volunteers who want to get engage democrats in their neighborhoods.

Because of the 2010 Census and redistricting, the 2012 General Election will have every Lake County Board, State Representative and State Senate seat up for election.

At no time in our recent history has so much been at stake. On a national level Medicare and Social Security are at risk. Collective bargaining, a basic human right as declared by the United Nations and the middle class are under heavy fire. The progress of women and minorities are jeopardized. Our deficit is out of control. Civil discussion and compromise are a distant memory.  As a result, ideas and solutions remain on the table instead of in play.

The 2012 election brings a roster of outstanding Democratic candidates for office at the local and national level. Each one is dedicated to upholding the values that provide strength for our community, state and nation. Each candidate is committed to public service and brings a wealth of insight, experience and new perspectives.
